The EKAHA Board of Directors voted to donate $250 on behalf of the club to the Arabian Horsemen’s Distress Fund (AHDF) in December.
The Arabian Horsemen’s Distress Fund is a registered 501c3 Charitable Organization that was created to help members of the Arabian community during times of difficulty that arise from unexpected, catastrophic situations.
The Arabian Horsemen’s Distress Fund is a completely separate organization from any other entity, with its own by-laws, board of directors, and bank account, and it is solely dedicated to helping fellow horsemen during times of need.
The Arabian Horsemen’s Distress Fund was established in January of 2005 as the Arabian horsemen’s community rose to help one of their own, Northwestern Arabian horse trainer Ron Copple, who was diagnosed in the fall of 2004 with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma.
To date the Horsemen’s Distress Fund has raised and disbursed nearly $500,000 to individuals throughout the Arabian horse community in time of need, accident and illness since its inception in 2005. These have included trainers, breeders, owners and amateur Arabian owners.
