The EKAHA Youth Group
is open to all EKAHA youth members, as well as other youth who would like to
participate and learn more about Arabian Horses. No Arabian ownership necessary. Just remind all those adults who want to
attend our events that they must be accompanied by a youth! Our Youth Leader is
Peter Grassl, who owns three Arabian horses, enjoys showing, and has tons of
experience with planning, leading and mentoring youth through his years of
volunteer work with the Boy Scouts. If you or your parents ever have questions
about our group, or upcoming activities, contact Mr. Grassl at
pogbowman@gmail.com or cell: 913.481.5469.

EKAHA Youth Members Learn Secrets
to Taking Great Photos of Horses
The latest EKAHA Youth
activity was Sunday, June 13 at Covered M Arena/Imagine Farms. Local
professional photographer and EKAHA member, Kathy Wismer,
www.kathywismer.com, gave an educational program on photographing horses.
The rain stopped long enough for Kathy to share her time and
talents, and all agreed the photo shoot was educational and fun.
Model and expectant mother, Maya, owned by Peter and Cathy Grassl, turned
out to be pretty photogenic and cooperated just as nicely as mother nature
did!
A potluck dinner followed the photo shoot - EKAHA youth
activities are gaining a reputation for having some pretty good food!
Thanks to EKAHA President John Simmons and his wife, Donna, for
attending.
Lots of photos were taken, so if anyone finds they have
a good one they'd like to share, send them to Chrissy Norris for posting
on the EKAHA Facebook page. Her contact info: "Chrissy Norris"
<chrissyn@fairpoint.net>,
Unless the Youth group would like to plan
something for July (we are open to ideas), the next event will be the
EKAHA annual meeting and board election on Saturday, August 14. We'll meet
in the parking lot of the T-Bones' Community American Ballpark before the
game. SAVE THE DATE. More info about tickets and scheduling are soon to
come.
For an upcoming (probably in the fall) Youth meeting, we
will schedule a jewelry and horseshoe art activity, as requested by our
members.

Hey, Youth Club
members...what's the secret to taking a great photo of your horse, dog, or cat?

The EKAHA Youth Club
made a splash at the recent MO*KAN Border Bonanza! The Club washed horses of all
colors on Thursday evening prior to the start of the show. Members were
organized into teams to tackle the horses which needed a cleaning prior to the
start of the show. At the end of the wash session, horses were clean while
everyone had a good time and new friendships were made. Oh yes, some of the
water was directed towards the club members in fun!
The idea
for this activity came up several months ago when the youth decided they wanted
to hold a fund raising activity and voted to hold a horse wash at the upcoming
area show.
Safety
and teamwork were important, so a practice session was held in March at Imagine
Farms.

Club wishes to thank
